The short version
Hot Mess is a personal menopause tracker. Everything you log stays on your phone. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics.
What the app stores
Daily symptom levels, sleep, water, meals, exercise, meditation sessions, weight (optional), period and cycle notes (optional), your answers to the Hot Mess Plus questions, and preferences such as language, theme and reminder time.
All of it is saved only in the app's private storage on your device.
What leaves your phone
Food search: when you type a food name in the meal log, the text you typed and your app language are sent to Open Food Facts, a free public database, to look up nutrition figures. No personal or health data is sent with it.
App updates: the app checks Expo's update service for new versions of its code. This request does not include your health data.
Doctor summary: if you choose "Create and share PDF", the summary is created on your phone and handed to the app you pick. It goes wherever you send it and nowhere else.
What the app does not do
No account or sign-in. No analytics, advertising or tracking. No selling or sharing of data. No cloud backup of your entries: Android app backup is switched off, so your entries are not copied to Google's backup service.
Permissions
Notifications: only for the optional daily check-in reminder you set.
Camera: reserved for a future meal-photo feature. It is not used unless you start that feature.
Deleting your data
Open Settings and choose "Clear all data", or uninstall the app. Either removes everything the app stored.
Children
Hot Mess is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16.
